Entré chez Intel dès la fin de ses études en 1974, il a occupé plusieurs postes au sein des activités Semiconductor & Systems de la société et s'est occupé des relations avec IBM de 1980 à 1985. En 1985 Paul Otellini est nommé General Manager de l'activité Peripheral Components, puis General Manager de la Folsom Microcomputer Division en 1987.
Il a été nommé Vice Président d'un Groupe opérationnel en 1988. En 1989, il devient assistant d'Andy Grove, Président d'Intel. Paul Otellini est nommé Général Manager du Microprocessor Products Group en 1990, avant dêtre élu Corporate Officer en 1991 puis Senior Vice President en 1993. En Mai 1994, il accède au poste de Director du Sales et Marketing Group avant d'être promu Executive Vice President en 1996. En janvier 1998, il est nommé General Manager du Intel Architecture Business Group nouvellement créé.

Né le 12 Octobre 1950 à San Francisco, Paul Otellini est titulaire d'une license d'Economie (B.A.) de l'Université de San Francisco (1972) et d'un MBA de l'Université de Berkeley (1974).

Paul otellini is Executive Vice President of Intel Corporation and Director of the Sales and Marketing Group. Otellini joined Intel in 1974 directly from graduate school and has held a number of positions in Intel 's Semiconductor and Systems businesses. He managed Intel' s business with IBM from 1980 through 1985, and has promoted to General Manager of the Peripheral Components Operation in 1985, and to General Manager of the Folsom Microcomputer Division in 1987.
Paul was appointed an operating group Vice President in 1988, and in 1989  moved to the position of assistant to the President of Intel. Andy Grove. He became General Manager of the Microprocessor Products Group in 1990 and was elected as a corporate officer in 1991 and Senior Vice President in 1993. In May of 1994, he moved to his current position and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 1996.
Paul received his B.A in Economics from the University of San Francisco in 1972 and his M.B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1974. He was born October 12, 1950 in San Francisco, California.
